In this workshop, lab users will learn how to operate the Laser Cutter equipment through designing a custom cardboard coaster they get to take home.

This workshop covers:

  • Laser cutting health and safety;
  • Fundamentals of subtractive fabrication;
  • How to design and/or import design files into Lightburn;
  • Machine operation basics.
Attending this orientation is a required step to use the DME's Mira 7s laser cutter. We ask that all learners enroll in our D2L organization shell and complete the 26/27 DME Laser Cutter Equipment Safety Quiz, as well as the Lab Activities Waiver prior to attending this workshop.
