In this beginner-friendly workshop, you’ll learn how to solder a blinking LED onto a custom PCB to create your very own USB-powered lightboard. Along the way, we’ll introduce you to the basic tools and techniques used to build and test simple electronic circuits.
No previous electronics or soldering experience is needed. We’ll walk you through each step and provide all the tools and materials you’ll need.
What You'll Learn
During the workshop, you’ll get hands-on experience with:
- Soldering basics: Learn how to place electronic components and solder them onto a circuit board using simple through-hole techniques.
- Using soldering equipment safely: Get comfortable with the soldering iron, materials, and basic hand tools used in electronics.
- Multimeter basics: Learn how to use a multimeter to check your circuit and make sure everything is working as expected.
- Build your own lightboard: Put your new skills into practice by creating a blinking LED lightboard that you can take home.
Workshop attendees will leave the Lab with their very own lightboard (powered via USB-A port)!
