Defining an Answerable Question: Identifying Gaps in the Literature, PICO, and FINER Online
Identifying a research interest, and transforming it into a researchable question is key to a successful outcome - but can be one of the most challenging parts of the research process. In this session, we’ll discuss how to identify a topic of interest, develop a research question and identify core concepts using popular frameworks such as PICO, as well as evaluating the quality of your research question with the FINER criteria. The role of pre-searching library resources to help identify gaps in research will also be discussed.

From PICO to Publish: Library Research and Scholarly Publishing in Health and Medicine
This six-part online series focuses on supporting professional development and skill building in key areas of the research life cycle for students, faculty and researchers in the fields of Health and Medicine. Jointly offered by the TMU Library at the Toronto campus and the Bikram S. Dhillon and Family Medical Library at TMU’s Brampton campus, this series will cover topics such as: developing your research question with PICO and other frameworks, screening and managing results, strategic reading, data extraction, journal publishing, and ethical AI integration. Each session will include interactive learning opportunities for participants.
