This panel discussion brings together scholars and publishing professionals to explore the realities, challenges, and opportunities that BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour) researchers encounter throughout the academic publishing process, with a particular focus on the publication of monographs. Panelists will share candid insights from their own publishing journeys, offering practical guidance on navigating peer review, working with editors, and finding supportive networks within the scholarly community.

While this session focuses on the publishing experiences of BIPOC scholars in the humanities and social sciences, we welcome anyone interested in learning from these perspectives. Researchers at all career stages, including instructors, postdoctoral fellows, and graduate students are encouraged to attend.

This session aligns with TMU’s Dimensions Action Objectives by offering BIPOC scholars practical guidance for navigating academic publishing and creating space for peer mentorship around the unique publishing challenges experienced by racialized faculty.
