Utilizing Minecraft for 3D Development In-Person

In this session participants will receive a comprehensive overview of how to export 3D models from Minecraft for use in real-world software applications such as Blender, Unity, and Unreal. The session will also cover the process of exporting from Minecraft forto 3D printing.

Key themes include exporting Minecraft 3D models for development and printing, an introduction to popular 3D game engines and modeling software, applying custom materials to Minecraft models in Blender and Unreal, and a general overview of 3D printing. Additionally, best practices in 3D development and 3D printing will be discussed.

The session will conclude with a live demonstration of how to export a Minecraft 3D creation for use in both 3D development tools and 3D printing.

Laptops are not required to follow along.
No prior experience with Minecraft is necessary, just bring your enthusiasm for learning about 3D development techniques!

Finding the Library Collaboratory:

The main entrance to the Library Collaboratory is via the SLC Building.
Take the elevator (opposite the main entrance) up to the 3rd floor of the SLC Building.
Exit and turn left: the Library Collaboratory is at the end of the hall, marked with large yellow doors
