In this hands-on workshop for the DME's new bookable 3D printers, attendees will learn how to use many of the more advanced features of slicing software, including support painting, filament selection, printing multiple objects in one booking, organic supports, seam painting, variable layer height, and text embossing.

Upon successful compleition of the workshop and a test print activity at the workshop, learners will be able to book print time on the DME's self serve 3D printers. They will also be able to apply for a DME 3D Printing skills badge.

Workshop Overview:


In this hands-on workshop for the DME's new bookable 3D. printers, attendees will learn how to use many of the more advanced features of slicing software, including support painting, filament selection, printing multiple objects in one booking, organic supports, seam painting, variable layer height, and text embossing.

After completing this workshop, attendees will be able to:

  1. Adjust settings, for printer-specific features (like multi-filament prints using the AMS system) 
  2. Identify non-printable models and solutions
  3. Use advanced visualization features to identify problematic areas in their prints 
  4. Recognize prints that require supports, and customize support settings when needed
  5. Adjust print settings to speed up the printing process
  6. Confidently print complex, multi-part models
  7. Select appropriate filament types for their use case (PETG vs. PLA) 

Prior 3D printing experience is required. Attendees are strongly encouraged to complete their DME 3D Printing certification prior to attending this workshop.
